This post is on clean eating tips to help you lose weight and keep it off for good.

Its no news to a lot of us, that when we desire to lose weight, our eating habits take a turn, and that turn is for the better, because we look for clean eating tips to lose weight.

But like always, changing your eating habits doesn’t have to be hectic.

Taking your time to change your eating habits will have a long-term effect and will definitely benefit you in the future.

In this post, I’ll be sharing some clean eating tips to lose weight effectively, and you don’t have to work out to do this also.

How to lose weight without exercise? This is exactly what you need if you have asked yourself that question.

I know, because these tips I’ll show you also helped me in my fitness and health journey, and I know it will also help you.

Well, to going further into the post, here are some;

CLEAN EATING TIPS TO HELP YOU LOSE WEIGHT AND KEEP IT OFF

1) CUT OUT ADDED SUGAR

Now this is my definite no 1 clean eating tip to help you lose weight,

because added sugar in a lot of packaged goods, pack a lot of calories, more than we even think.

So, start with cutting out added sugar.

Do you take soda a lot, cut that out and replace it with seltzer water, or tea or my personal favorite, adding fruit to your water to give it a boost. (Fruit infused water like its called)

Just the simple act of cutting out added sugar will have a good impact in your weight loss journey, and in your overall health.

2) INCORPORATE GREENS

Adding more greens to your food will help improve your overall body health.

Greens like spinach and kale, are full of antioxidants, and they are good for your heart, and help in weight loss.

So, start adding greens to your food, preferably, let the greens fill half of your plate, then fill the other half with your protein and grains.

Make your plate half veggies, quarter filled with carbs and the other quater with protein.

3) UNLEASH YOUR INNER CHEF

Yep. You read that correctly.

One super easy way to lose weight, is cooking your own meals instead off going out to eat or ordering takeout.

Cooking at home is amazing, because you are at the comfort of your home, whipping up something good for you,

And be assured that the food you make at home yourself, would be more balanced and healthier than whatever you order outside.

When you cook at home, you have control over what you are making, and you know what and what exactly is entering your food.

So, ditch those late-night takeout and start making your own meals. No need to be some world class chef before you make your own meals.

Grab a cookbook or two and get cooking.

4) SHOP THE PERIMETER OF THE SUPERMARKET

One common thing you will notice when you enter grocery stores or supermarkets,

is that the shelves you see once you enter are always filled with the unhealthy and heavily processed food.

The packaged chip and dips, sugary breakfast cereal, snacks, soda and a whole lot more.

Very tempting if you ask me.

Then towards the perimeter, you begin to see the fruits and veggies and other healthy foods and proteins.

That’s just a strategy of the processed food industry to sell their goods. Crazy, but it sells like Crazy.

No doubt, when we enter the store we usually move straight towards the shelves, but its time we change that, and start shopping the perimeter of the store.

So, the next time you enter a grocery store, don’t go straight ahead,

Rather divert your cart and move towards the perimeter, because that is where the healthy food is.

Do this, and you will give yourself a pat on the back for taking the curve.

5) SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL FARMERS MARKET

If you don’t want to go to the grocery store, why don’t you shop at the local farmers’ market.

Not only are you getting fresh foods that hasn’t been transported for long periods, but you are also supporting the local farmers who grow the food.

When we shop at the grocery store, the majority of the profit goes to the big guys at the top, and little goes to the farmers who actually grow them,

But when we shop at the farmers market, the profit goes straight to the farmer who grew them, and that little support goes a long way.

So, if you have a local farmers market in your area, shop your produce from them, because you will get them fresh, mostly organic and in season.

6) EAT WHOLE FOODS

Adding whole foods to your meal is one of the great clean eating tips to lose weights.

When cooking your meals, add more whole foods to your plate, because they are not only nutritious, but they add to your health, resulting in a healthier you.

7) LOOK AT NUTRITION LABELS

Cutting out packaged goods from our meals is a great way to eat healthier.

However, since the majority of us eat some packaged good, its important to know the contents of what we are eating.

Especially when comparing food.

Having a look at the nutrition label on food, helps us know the number of calories in a packaged good,

Together with the amount of salt, fat and sugar in it.

Despite this, I want you to know that the healthy foods, such as fish or greens, don’t come with nutrition labels.

And don’t be deceived if the amount of calories is 150 and the goods are about 600 grams. Check properly, and you will find out that the 150 calories is for a single serving, and a single serving might be 100 grams or less.

Now, I will leave you to do the math.

8) LEARN TO MEAL PREP

Its important to meal prep because meal prepping helps you plan your meals ahead of time,

Plus, it’s a very efficient time saving mechanism, especially for those who can’t be cooking every day.

Its also important to get good meal prepping equipment’s, such as glass containers, glass mason jars, slow cooker, crockpots and a lot more of those.

So, try making meal prep a habit, so that you won’t have to worry about what to eat and what not to eat.

Make sure you use glass meal prep containers over plastic. Because not only are they microwaveable, they are also eco friendly.

9) DON’T DRINK YOUR CALORIES

This is something I always ring on, both to my audience, and to my friends and my family.

It took some time for me to get over this as well, but here it is;

DON’T DRINK YOUR CALORIES.

One of the worst added sugar you can put in your system is liquid sugar. Those things are basically death traps.

What makes it worse, our brain doesn’t register it as food, so its very easy for us to take a lot of it and that is very harmful to our health.

If you take a lot of soda, coca cola and stuff like that, just cutting it out of your meals, would have a great impact on your health,

And trust me, you will not regret the choice you make later in life.

10) KEEP YOUR PANTRY AND FRIDGE STOCKED

Just by buying and stocking your fridge and pantry with healthy food and snacks, helps you make better food choices.

So, start now, and stock up with healthy and tasty food and snacks.

Snack such as nuts and cheese, gives you something to snack on if you feel hungry during the day.

Way better than grabbing a pack of packaged chips and munching away.

11) FILL UP ON PROTEIN

Adding more protein to your food, is a great way to, not only eat healthier, but also to lose weight.

Proteins like eggs, fish, beans, chicken breast, tofu, beans, lentils and the likes are filled with a lot of nutrients that aid in the growth and strengthening of our immune system.

One way I add protein to my meals, is to mix it up.

Sometimes I go with animal protein, and other times I switch it up to plant protein.

You can even use supplements like protein powder, if you don’t reach your daily protein intake.

Ensure that at least quarter of your plate is filled with protein.

12) PURCHASE LOCAL AND ORGANIC PRODUCTS

Just like I had mentioned before, when purchasing products from the farmers market, you are rest assured that those products, are fresh and mostly organic.

Plus, a good tip is to buy foods that are in season, because they will be cheaper and sweeter.

Purchasing organic products is a great way to up your clean eating game.

You may be confused on what exactly is organic, and simply stating, organic produce is produce that is grown,

without the use of any harmful or harsh pesticides, and for organic meat, it is meat that is gotten from animals

 that have not been subdued to harsh environment and artificial feeding.

13) MAKE HEALTHY VERSIONS OF YOUR FAVORITE TREATS

There is always an alternative to different processed foods out there and you can make healthy versions of them.

Do you love ice cream, why don’t you switch it up and make nice cream, or even a sorbet?

Is it chocolate, have dark chocolate instead, and you can even melt it and dip strawberries in them.

So, whatever it is you may be craving, there is always a healthy alternative to it.

14) EAT THE RAINBOW

I love this tip in particular, because when you eat the rainbow, you are incorporating different veggies in your food, instead of just one.

So, your food will look colorful, attractive and tasty all at once.

15) DON’T DEPRIVE YOURSELF

Now, this may be a post on clean eating tips to lose weight, but that doesn’t mean that you should completely deprive yourself of sweets from time to time.

If you are craving a chocolate chip ice-cream, have it, because it is better to eat it and be satisfied, than to curb your craving and making it get worse.

As long as you eat your sweets in moderation, you will still be on your weight loss journey, and nothing will happen to you.

Just don’t overindulge, because that just makes it worse.

Remember, as long as you eat in moderation, nothing will have to be eliminated form your diet.

these are the tips I followed when I was just starting out as a beginner in my fitness and health journey.
